St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union Limited donates to the Pink and White Gala

       In recognition of Breast Cancer Month, the St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union Limited recognized 5 female members, who are breast cancer survivors, by treating them to tickets to attend the 1st Annual Pink and White Gala held on Saturday 22nd October at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.

At a small ceremony on Wednesday 19th October at the institution’s Headquarters, Ms. Julie Charles, Marketing and Human Resource Manager indicated that the Credit Union not only cared for the member’s financial health but their spiritual and bodily health as well. She also stated that the institution was aware of the way that this particular disease had ravage a cross section of the female membership and that the institution had always endevoured to assist the membership wherever possible with donations towards treatment. Given the emotional and psychological impact of this disease has on its victims, it was decided that the women deserved an elegant evening out to socialize with other survivors who understand their struggles.

After the brief opening remarks, the tickets were handed over by Mrs. Claudine Jenkins, representative of the Essence of Hope Association and organizers of the event. She expressed her thanks to the credit union for the initiative and she was delighted to meet the survivors. Mrs. Sheryl Bass, General Manager, stated that the institution was indeed happy to make such a gesture as the Credit Union felt that the members deserved such a treat. Finally, one of the survivors, Ms. Agnes Farrell, thanked the institution for such a wonderful token. She stated that on behalf of the members that they were truly grateful for the tickets and the opportunity to have an elegant evening out.

The members attended the event and communicated that they had a wonderful evening and they were happy that the credit union had recognized them and given them the chance to attend such a sophisticated event. To top off the evening, one of the institution’s strong members Ms. Idetha Mills Thomas was the awarded for the first Annette Jenkins Humanitarian Award for her extraordinary work done in the field of HIV in the community. Overall, the members had a wonderful time and stated that they would be forever grateful to the St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union for such a treat.
