The St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union Board of Directors and Management are pleased to report that on Wednesday 28th May 2014 a successful 31st Annual General Meeting was convened at the St. Kitts Marriot Resort. There were over three hundred persons in attendance. The feature presenter was Sir Probyn Inniss. He was most eloquent and convincing in his delivery on the theme: “Redefining Strategies to Serve You Better”.
Many awards were given in recognition of years of service. Amongst the awardees was the General Manager, Mrs. Sheryl Bass, who was given an award for twenty years of dedicated service and visionary leadership. Nine other staff personnel also received Service Awards for ten years of dedicated service. A Candle Lighting Tribute was beautifully executed in memory of the late Warick Estwick who was also honored posthumously for ten years of dedicated service. Several retiring volunteers were recognized for their contribution to the development of the Credit Union. Thirteen primary schools received gifts of reading books as a result of an innovative Book Drive Launch initiated last year October on Credit Union Day. The members in attendance too were delighted with tokens and some received surprise gifts.
The greatest excitement of the evening came with the declaration of a 5% dividend. The members were ecstatic. This is noteworthy as the institution had not paid dividend in three years due to the requirements of the new Co-operative Societies Act, Number 31 of 2011. The President, Ms Marilyn Johnson made it clear that; “The Board of Directors and Management are committed to making the SKCCU a model credit union. We cannot do it alone, and so we send the clarion call out to our members to do your part to help build and sustain your credit union.”
We wish to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone and anyone who has contributed in any way to ensure the success of this institution. You have helped to light a flame that will never be extinguished because of that passion that now burns in all of us. Continue to support our credit union family always.
